‘Wilderness Eyes’ video debuts on exclaim!

This morning exclaim! debuted a new music video for ‘Wilderness Eyes,’ the second single from our 2011 Raised By Wolves EP. The video was conceived and produced by local director and producer Wayne Robinson (of Thousand Plateaus) who has been making a name for himself through recent entries in VIFF and the World Film Festival. Today we wanted to tell you a little bit about the making of this video, and the team behind it.
First and foremost, we want to acknowledge that this film was created on a miniscule budget by a team of volunteers. The equipment used was mainly borrowed, most of the shooting was done on the directors parents’ property, meals were generously provided by his mother and the 7 person crew donated their time and skills to make it all come together. All we had to do was show up and stand in front of the camera.
The concept was pitched to us by the director Wayne Robinson following a gig at the end of last year. He provided us with a detailed treatment booklet with technical notes and a short essay on the concept of ‘outliving wild origins (in an) urban jungle.’ He followed this up by excitedly describing how he would be using an original super 8 camera, his plans to film a live birth (..plans changed), his idea to have us ‘embody woodland animals’ and a scene involving us chasing a bear projection on a concrete wall. We quietly accepted the possibility that he was mental, but were impressed by his vision and willing attitude.
The shoot ended up being one of the most rewarding experiences that we have had as a band. From the get-go we were treated like absolute royalty by an incredibly professional crew. We were driven to the set on golf carts, given an acting lesson, fed by the wonderful Robinson family and watched as Wayne’s vision came to life. Following our shoot he involved us heavily in the editing process and dropped in often to get our opinions on rough cuts. As a relatively small band it was remarkably validating to see other people devote themselves as much to our music as we did.
We want to take this opportunity to thank Wayne and his crew for their vision and dedication in making this project a reality. The generosity and hospitality shown to us by them-as well as by the Robinson family-went above and beyond anything a group like us could hope to receive. We are looking forward to a continued creative relationship with Wayne and Thousand Plateaus as we work on new material, and are certain that we will continue to see great things from them in the future.
Enjoy the video!

We can’t promise that we won’t fill your feed with cat pics, but at least they’ll look really cool. Come along with us as we write and record new material, and gaze in wonder at the sepia-filtered snapshots of our meals (we’ll try to keep that to a minimum).

If you have a smartphone or other device capable of running the Instagram app you can find us under @41standhome.

See you there!

41st and Home’s ‘Gorbachev’ video debuts on Exclaim!

Posted on by 41standhome

Water balloons, villains, facepaint…..it was war. The music video for ‘Gorbachev’ debuts today on Exclaim! magazine. It follows a rag-tag group of kids (us and some dedicated fans!) engaging in an epic water-fight, leaving few survivors. The video was produced and shot by our friends at Amazing Factory Productions, who have created videos for the likes of Hey Ocean, Said The Whale, We Are The City, and Yukon Blonde.

Exclaim! debuts 41st and Home\’s \’Gorbachev\’ music video

The video was shot in Queen Elizabeth Park, and an open call was made to our fans to join in to be in the video. Spirits were high as the water battle played out; by the end, everyone was soaked, but some Timmy Ho’s hot chocolate warmed everyone up after and was definitely appreciated! Huge thanks to everyone who joined us, to the lovely guys at Amazing Factory for creating such a fun video, and to Exclaim! for debuting it for us!

WAAAAR!

The enduring army!

Another music video for the 2011 EP Raised By Wolves is currently in the works as well – produced by Persona Productions – and will be revealed later this summer. Keep your eyes and ears peeled friends.

Enjoy the video! All our love,
